Ed uses a lot of data on the trail when talking about the challenges facing Virginia. Whether it’s the anemic two percent economic growth rate or the fact that Virginia has fallen out of the top 10 on the CNBC list of best states to do business, the data paints a clear picture of a struggling economy.
One of the stats he uses a lot is that in 2013, more people moved out of Virginia than into Virginia for the first time in decades, likely since World War II.
New data from the Cooper Center at UVA confirms that this troubling trend is continuing. According to the most recent data, more people moved out of Virginia in 2014 than into Virginia. That’s three years in a row with a net loss in migration.
We need to get Virginia’s economy growing again. And we need to get people moving into Virginia again.
