For all Virginians

Gillespie extends lead in 2017 GOP primary

Gillespie earns 38%, more than both opponents combined

Longtime conservative leader, 2014 U.S. Senate nominee, and 2017 Republican candidate for governor Ed Gillespie is expanding his lead among GOP primary voters ahead of the June 13th election, according to a new poll from the Wason Center for Public Policy at Christopher Newport University. The poll shows Gillespie capturing 38 percent of the vote, up from 33 percent in the last CNU poll, followed by Corey Stewart at 11 percent and Frank Wagner at 10 percent.

“Republicans are unifying behind Ed Gillespie because they know he will be a governor for ALL Virginians,” said Campaign Manager Chris Leavitt. “Ed has laid out a detailed plan to cut taxes for all Virginians, the first step in what will be a sweeping and substantive agenda to get our economy growing again. This policy-oriented leadership, combined with a conservative, optimistic vision, and growing team of grassroots volunteers will propel our campaign to victory in June and a unified Republican ticket to victory in November.”
