For all Virginians

Ed Launches ‘Pro-Life Leaders for Ed’ Coalition

Ed believes human life, beginning at conception and ending at natural death, should be cherished and protected.

He’s pro-life and will defend and protect innocent human life, and Virginia needs a governor who will stand up for the least among us, including the unborn. As governor, he will work to foster a culture that respects innocent human life by promoting policies that reduce unplanned pregnancies, increase access to adoption and foster care, and give every woman the opportunity to choose life.

Former Governor George F. Allen said, “Ed understands that State governments should have an important Constitutional role in protecting our rights and opportunities in life. As governor,  Ed will work conscientiously to protect life and improve opportunities for mothers to choose life and unborn children through adoption, as well as supporting making contraceptives more accessible to women.”

“Ed and I share a belief that every life is precious, has potential, and should be protected. Virginia needs a governor who shares the legislature’s strong commitment to protecting innocent human life.” said Speaker-designee M. Kirk Cox and Co-Chair of the Policy Leadership Team. “Ed will lead our Commonwealth as a trusted and principled advocate for the cause of life for all Virginians.”

Senator Mark D. Obenshain and Co-Chair of the Policy Leadership Team said, “Virginians who care about protecting the lives of the unborn should support Ed Gillespie. He will work tirelessly to promote policies that increase access to adoption and foster care and promote a culture of protecting human life.”

“Our core values are under attack, and we need a governor who will stand up for what is right,” said pro-life leader Penny Nance of Fairfax County. “I have known Ed for twenty years and I know he will stand up for the precious right to life.”

Ryan Kelly, adoptive dad and former Director of Virginia Adopts Initiative said, “Every child deserves a loving family, but unfortunately, too many children in Virginia don’t have that vital support system. Ed Gillespie will be a pro-life advocate for children in foster care, over 800 of whom are waiting to be adopted. He will respect life from beginning to end.”

Ed announced 28 members of his campaign’s ‘Pro-Life Leaders for Ed’ coalition from regions around the Commonwealth. The campaign will continue to grow the coalition, which already has more than 100 members, in the coming weeks.

Ed has pledged to protect and care for innocent human life. He is committed to signing legislation that would protect from abortion an unborn child who can feel pain, working with the General Assembly on the specifics of the bill.

Ed was endorsed by the National Right to Life Committee during his 2014 U.S. Senate campaign. He championed Henry Hyde to receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom when he served as Counselor to President George W. Bush and was with Vice President Mike Pence for his historic speech at this year’s March for Life.
