The National Rifle Association’s Political Victory Fund has released its candidate grades ahead of the June 13 primary elections for both Republicans and Democrats.
Conservative leader Ed Gillespie has earned an A rating for his support of our individual, constitutional right to keep and bear arms. In 2014, the organization also gave Ed its highest rating during his campaign for the United States Senate.
Earlier this year, the Virginia Citizens Defense League (VCDL) another pro-Second Amendment group declared Ed a “pro-gun” candidate.
The two Democrats competing for their party’s nomination, Lieutenant Governor Ralph Northam and Congressman Tom Perriello, both received “F” ratings from the NRA. Perriello previously received the support of the NRA and held an “A” rating, but in the Democrats’ hard left turn he has begun criticizing the group as a “nut-job extremist organization.”
In November, the choice for supporters of the Second Amendment will be clear. Ed Gillespie believes in an individual’s right to keep and bear arms, will undo Governor Terry McAuliffe’s unconstitutional executive order banning guns in government buildings, and will veto any legislation that limits law-abiding gun owners.
