A new poll from the Consumer Energy Alliance shows that 54 percent of Virginia voters support the Atlantic Coast Pipeline, a vital energy project that neither Lieutenant Governor Ralph Northam and Congressman Tom Perriello support.
More from Bacon’s Rebellion:
“Eighty-three percent of voters say they consider ‘energy issues’ to be very or somewhat important in the upcoming gubernatorial election. Forty-eight percent say that are more likely to support a candidate who “favors more infrastructure projects like the Atlantic Coast Pipeline” while 27percent say they would more likely prefer a candidate opposed to the pipeline.”
In their hard turn to the left for the Democrat primary, Northam and Perriello are so eager to appeal to the hardcore environmentalists that they oppose this popular project that even Governor Terry McAuliffe supports.
As noted by Consumer Energy Alliance President President David Holt:
“Voters clearly support the safe, responsible development of energy infrastructure, such as the Atlantic Coast Pipeline. To win, candidates are going to have to listen and side with voters.”
