RICHMOND, VA – Virginia Ninth District Congressman Morgan Griffith endorsed Ed Gillespie for Governor on the John Fredericks Radio Show Tuesday morning. Griffith’s endorsement follows a series of endorsements from grassroots conservative leaders last week leading up to the Republican Party of Virginia Advance. Gillespie has picked up more than two dozen new endorsements in the last week.
“The Ninth District is known as the Fightin’ ninth, and no one fights harder for our principles and the people he represents than Morgan Griffith,” Gillespie said. “I’m honored by his endorsement, and look forward to campaigning with him. I hope to work with him as governor to fight for jobs in Southwest Virginia, which has been ignored for too long now. That won’t be the case under my administration. We will fight for every last coal job, develop a plan to revitalize manufacturing and align our education system with the needs of the marketplace.”
“I think Ed is the right choice in 2017. We can have our differences within the party, but at the same time we have to recognize we have to have candidates who can actually win,” Griffith said on the John Fredericks Radio Show. “Ed has been all over Southwest Virginia and he’ll have a lot of support down here. Ed has the right values, he’s a good administrator, and I think he’ll be a great governor. He worries about jobs and the folks in my end of the state who don’t have jobs.”
“Ed Gillespie has been in Southwest Virginia, he understands a lot of what is going on, and he has that feeling for folks that I think resonated with Trump. We had counties that went close to 80 percent for Donald Trump and I think they’ll do the same for Ed because they want to see a change and they want to see something positive happening,” Griffith added.
