RICHMOND – Longtime conservative leader, 2014 U.S. Senate candidate and 2017 Republican candidate for Governor Ed Gillespie released the following statement Tuesday on the Fourth Circuit’s 3-0 decision upholding Virginia’s photo identification requirement.
“Two federal courts have now upheld Virginia’s commonsense photo identification requirement. The General Assembly crafted a responsible law that secures the integrity of our elections and guarantees fair and equitable ballot access for all voters, despite the alarmist and false rhetoric of some. As Governor, I will ensure that Virginia’s elections are fair, free, safe and secure, and that includes protecting this sensible law.”
