For all Virginians

Toward a more efficient and effective Virginia Government

Virginians work hard to earn a living and when they pay their taxes, their money should go to a smaller, more efficient and better compensated workforce that skillfully provides the Commonwealth its core services.

But the fact is when they pay their state taxes, they’re turning over their hard-earned money to a bloated, inefficient government. Red tape often stands in the way of smart ideas and modern innovation.

Virginians deserve better.

Ed put forward the “Efficiency + Effectiveness: A Government that Works for ALL Virginians” Plan to change that.

Though it’s often pushed to the side for ceremonial duties and press conferences, the governor is responsible for the management and day-to-day oversight of its departments, agencies, workforce and services. As governor, Ed will be an effective and prepared manager on day one.

Ed was a small business owner for years, so he understands the balance of leadership and management. He’ll give Virginia’s talented state employees the a greater opportunity to effectively serve Virginians and he’ll reorient our government to focus on producing real results. He will institute a zero-based budgeting process for the next biennial budget: Just as Virginians balance their checkbooks every month, the executive branch will too.

Ed knows that good government isn’t just about efficiencies and savings; it is about people. When government fails the consequences are real. From education to public safety to mental health. Virginians are counting on their governor and their state workforce to get it right.

Ed will be an effective manager, so that when Virginians pay their taxes, they know their money isn’t being wasted. Read his plan in full here.
