Ed had a great time at the McLean Day festival over the weekend, meeting and hearing from Virginians, but Lieutenant Governor Ralph Northam and Congressman Tom Perriello were nowhere to be found.
In a post titled, “Not Showing Up: A Sure Way for Democrats to Lose Elections,” left-wing blog Blue Virginia laments,
“‘Being there’ is a top-tier requirement for winning political campaigns … that too many Ds failed to meet when it came to McLean Day, 2017. As Woody Allen correctly put it, “80% of success is just showing up.”
How hard would it have been for the Northam and/or Perriello campaigns to get literature and some volunteers to McLean Day?”
That’s some pretty good advice.
It’s too bad Ralph Northam disagrees. According to Politico Playbook, he spent Saturday at the races — in Maryland. Northam was “spotted” in the Stronach Group Owner’s chalet at the Preakness along with actor Kevin Spacey and musicians Sam Hunt, High Valley, and LOCASH.
With trouble coming up the backstretch in Ralph’s own race, spending time outside of the Commonwealth and not talking with voters is one gamble he may regret.
