Continuing to demonstrate no serious interest in economic growth in rural Virginia, Democratic nominee for governor Ralph Northam yesterday skipped the Governor’s Summit on Rural Prosperity, hosted by the Virginia Rural Center, choosing instead to attend a fundraiser with Democratic National Committee Deputy Chair Keith Ellison. Ellison, who recently called for the redistribution of wealth, is well-known for his inflammatory remarks.
“Lieutenant Governor Northam’s continued disinterest in serving rural Virginia, or even bothering to show up for the conversation, is an insult to Virginians in some of the most economically challenged areas of the Commonwealth,” said communications director Dave Abrams. “The Lieutenant Governor is more interested in leading the Resistance than leading Virginia. He won’t even show up to talk with Virginians about the challenges they face and his lack of solutions for them. Ed’s policies will make life easier for rural Virginians, who have suffered under the policies and inattention of the McAuliffe-Northam Administration, and he will continue to share his positive vision with Virginians in every corner of the Commonwealth. Ed’s focus remains on serving ALL Virginians.”
In his tenure as Lieutenant Governor, Northam missed every single meeting of the Center for Rural Virginia Board, making clear his disinterest for the issues and lack of seriousness for the office he seeks
